Our Church

|
The Session of First Presbyterian Church established the
Foundation in the summer of 2004.
Gifts to the Foundation are not
intended to replace the generous congregational giving needed to meet
normal daily operating needs.
Foundation gifts grow in value and earnings.
Each year the Foundation makes funds
available to the church that can be spent to expand outreach, worship,
Christian education, and property.
Giving is a wonderful expression of faith. Gifts to the
Foundation provide church members with an opportunity to support church
ministry beyond their earthly life.
The Foundation provides a management system that will
grow, protect, and supervise the use of the funds.
Can I specify how my gift will be used?
The Foundation provides the donor with flexible choices
regarding how their gifts will be used.
The church encourages donors to designate that their gift
be included in one or more of the following three funds:
– may be used for local, national, or
world outreach programs not normally funded by the operating budget of
the church. Funds may also be used to enhance existing outreach
programs.
Property Fund – may be used for extraordinary
property maintenance, building renovation, or new construction not
normally funded by the operating budget of the church.
Worship/Christian Education Fund – may be used for
Worship and Christian Education projects not normally funded by the
operating budget of the Church.
A specifically designated fund can also be established and
managed by the Foundation. A specifically designated fund allows the donor
to designate the program or activity. Specifically designated funds are,
however, required to meet certain Foundation minimum requirements.
How can I make a gift to the Foundation?
Examples Include
-
An outright gift to the Foundation (i.e. cash or stock)
-
A simple amendment or “Codicil” to a will
-
Name the Foundation as a beneficiary of an IRA
(Individual Retirement Account), 401 (k) plan, or other tax deferred
account. You need not name the Church Foundation as the sole beneficiary
of an account; rather, the Foundation could be named as recipient of a
specified part of the account.
-
Name the Church Foundation as a beneficiary or partial
beneficiary to a life insurance policy.
Gifts of any amount are welcome.
Most gifts are tax deductible.
Gifts should be directed to the First Presbyterian
Church Foundation
Foundation Management
The Foundation is administered by a nine (9) member Board
composed of ordained elders and lay members of the congregation that are
elected by the Session. Committee members serve three (3) year staggered
terms. The Church treasurer is an ex-officio member of this Board.
